BARRIER PAPER

Food safety is a sensitive issue and also includes packaging in terms of protection, storage and transport. Nowadays, there is also the aspect of sustainability: avoiding waste, replacing plastic with more sustainable raw materials and recycling them after use, if possible, are the imperatives of our time. Our FJORD PAK® grades meet all these criteria.

With this, Fjord Paper Flensburg presents a flexible solution for packaging food made of pure paper which, on top of that, is fully recyclable - whether for bags, wrapping papers or laminating papers.

FJORD PAK® is available with combinable barriers against water vapour, fat/oil, oxygen/flavour and mineral oil migration. The coatings are water-based and have a high proportion of biodegradable ingredients. All our barrier papers are free from PE, extruded films, laminates, fluorocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons and optical brighteners. A (food-)safe bet!

Products

We offer a wide range of barrier papers from 49 to 87 g/m². All FJORD PAK® grades are characterised by the following common features:

Applications

Pouches (hot or cold sealed)
Barrier papers with excellent heat-sealability for heat-sealed pouch packaging of food and non-food. The intelligent alternatives to film packaging made of PE, PP or with BOPP film (BAG WG). And barrier papers for sealed bag packaging (LINER MG).

Wrapping papers
Wrapping and counter papers for dry and fatty foods such as bread, burgers, sausage or cheese. The food stays perfectly in shape and fresh due to the very good barriers and the excellent freshness retention effect - everything is perfectly protected (WRAP WG, WRAP WG uni).
Laminating papers
Laminating papers for packaging made of recycled cardboard or corrugated board for food products such as pasta, oat flakes, muesli or coffee. The special barrier functions are of course retained throughout all further processing steps such as printing, folding, creasing, etc. (LINER MG, LINER MGO).

Technology

As a sustainable high-tech material, paper is the ideal basis for many food and non-food packagings. For our barrier papers, we use renewable raw materials that do not compete with food production. All FJORD PAK® products are fully recyclable and therefore ideally suited for the circular economy.

Innovations such as FJORD PAK® are the result of our many years of expertise in coating a wide variety of special papers. Six different coating technologies are available to us for applying a wide variety of functional, protective and barrier coatings. Also for multiple and double-sided coatings.

Euro perforation is possible with high tear resistance thanks to our heat-sealable papers.
Placement in retail by means of Euro perforation in the bag only offers advantages for the customer.

Special features:

For setting up and stable positioning of the product. Both the necessary rigidity of the paper and the flexibility during manufacture and the production process can be guaranteed.
This bag shape enables a sufficient internal volume.

Special features:

As flexible packaging, the "classic" among pouch moulds.
High cycle rates in the production process and reliable production flow are possible.

Special features:

Large filling quantities and high volumes are possible.
